E-Waste Collection Events create a Positive Impact
- Unused electronics can often be found sitting in closets, drawers, and storage rooms throughtout residential homes and throughout an organization's facility
- In 2022, only about 22.3% of global e-waste was documented as formally collected and recycled, meaning most is not captured by documented systems (sitting in storage, informal handling, or improper disposal). Source
- Electronics recycling collection events create a convenient, trusted disposition channel that improves the circular economy and supports landfill diversion.
- Hosting an electronics recycling event that showcases a documented sustainability emissions reduction impact report afterword sets a positive example to others that responsible disposal and circular disposition practices can have a true impact in the local community.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is an employee electronics collection event?
It’s a scheduled drop-off event hosted at your site (or community location) where participants can bring old or unwanted electronics for responsible recycling. CAS provides event planning, logistics, secure transport, and documented outcomes.
Do you provide flyers and promotion materials?
Yes. We provide a digital PDF flyer and can also provide printed flyers based on your event plan. We also help create accepted-item messaging so participants know what to bring (and what not to bring).
What items can employees or residents bring?
Most events focus on common household electronics and small IT devices (phones, laptops, peripherals, small networking items, gaming console, and loose cables). We can tailor accepted items based on space, staffing, and downstream constraints.
For a general list, see: Accepted Items.
How do you handle data security for devices that may contain personal or sensitive data?
We can plan data security best practices for data-bearing devices typically found in residential households and communities. For employee events, depending on your organization's requirements, devices can be prepared for storage media removal, organizational MDM management unlocking, media sanitization, or physical destruction. We also recommend participants perform a factory reset for devices like mobile phones and tablets, and remove hard drives from devices like laptops and desktop PCs.
Can you host community events or events with municipalities and property managers?
Yes. We work with municipalities, community event coordinators, property managers, and organizations that want a professional, formally documented electronics collection event.
What reporting do we receive after the event?
You will receive an event level sustainability impact report with landfill diversion and disposition outcomes, using documented weights by category, total device count recieved, and any additional documentation your organization needs recorded for the event.
Can we establish recurring e-waste collection events?
Yes. Many organizations host annual or semi-annual events. We can also build a recurring cadence that aligns with your sustainability calendar or organization project initiatives.
Do you offer Scope 3 support for event outcomes?
If you need more advanced GHG reporting for electronics outcomes, we can incorporate this into the event planned and final disposition workflows through our sustainability services.
Can we schedule an Earth Day electronics collection event?
Yes. Earth Day (April 22) is one of the most popular times for employee and community electronics recycling events. We recommend scheduling early so we can confirm logistics, accepted items, staffing, overflow planning, and promotion materials.
